A J Campbell, 80, of 132 Pickens Circle, Anderson, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at his home. Born in Lavonia, Georgia, he was the son of Ben Burrell Campbell and Ida Mae Parker Campbell Hunter.
At a young age his parents moved to South Carolina and he attended Bethlehem Elementary School and Reed street High School. Mr. Campbell started farming at an early age and he later worked at Abney Mill and JR Roofing. He did brick mason work and he helped to build Anderson Memorial Hospital. He loved gardening and watching his favorite TV show, the Price is Right. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Annie Ruth Gilliard Campbell, three daughters, Patricia Geer (Curtis), Anderson, SC; Brenda Campbell and Priscilla M. Rinnix, both of Starr, SC; two sons, Andrew and David Campbell, both of Anderson, SC; brother, Willie Joe Campbell; grandchildren, Kelvin Lee, Pearlicia R. Geer, Hontas and Prilliyah B. Rennix; six great-grandchildren, Nykeria, Nyhia, Kinslee, Nyterrious, Nyleek and Karson. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
