Anderson, SC - Rev. D. B. Walker, 100, of 309 Cleveland Avenue, widower of Amanda McPhail Walker, entered into eternal rest at his home on Wednesday, November 8,. 2017.

Rev. Walker was born in Starr, SC to Alexander and Rosa Lee Robinson Walker, the youngest of five children.  His early school days were spent at Mt. Moriah Elementary School and he later transferred to Reed Street School.  After graduation, he furthered his education at Morris College and graduated from Benedict College in 1950; he taught school in Anderson County School District Three for twenty six years.  Rev. Walker was a World War II Veteran having served from 1941 - 1945. He also served on the Anderson City Council for twenty-two years.   

On May 2, 1943 he married the love of his life, Amanda McPhail Walker and they began a life together that lasted 66 years.  The same weekend of his marriage he was ordained as a Baptist minister and began his Christian journey as a minister.  Along the way he pastored many churches beginning with Mt. Olive Baptist Church and other churches he pastored were  Mt. Herman, King David, Silver Spring (twice), Rocky Creek, Liberty and Walker's Chapel. He also served as the Moderator of Union #1, Little River Missionary Baptist Association for many years and as Moderator of Little River Missionary Baptist Association. 

He was the owner of D.B. Walker Funeral Services and the co-owner of Robinson-Walker Funeral Service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, Eunice Beaty (Willie); brothers, Clarence Walker (Lucille) and Joe Walker; a sister who died in infancy and a granddaughter, Brinasha Vessels.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, two daughters, Gloria Walker Vessels and Xavia Walker Martin, both of Anderson, SC; two grandsons, Dyon B. Vessels (Ambrose) and Demetrius Walker, who was raised in the home; three great-grandchildren, Vonterious Richardson, Demetric Tysheim Walker, Sarah Walker, and Armoni Shemere; one great-great grandson Kymani Oglesby; nieces, Mirture Hill, Alberta Walker, Beblyn Jean Beaty and Beverly Elaine Walker, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services are12 noon Saturday, November 18, 2007 at Liberty Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC. 

The family is at the home.
