Betty Jane Mattison Black, 91 years old, widow of Robert Black, Jr., passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.

Born April 4, 1934, in Honea Path, SC, she was the daughter of James Claude Mattison, Sr. and Willie Mae Crisswell Mattison.  Betty was a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church and had retired from the Blanket Plant in Belton, SC.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one grandchild, and five siblings: Rufus Mattison, James Mattison, Jr., Broadus Mattison, Marvin Mattison, and Evelyn Mattison Wright.

Betty is survived by two sons, Jerome Black, of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Harvey Eugene Black of Honea Path, SC; one daughter, Sandi Michelle (Terrell) Norris of Anderson, SC; one brother, Johnny Edgar Mattison of Honea Path, SC; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many relatives, and friends.

Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be on Wednesday from 3-7 pm in the Ollie Stewart Memorial Chapel, D. B. Walker Funeral Services, Honea Path, SC, and the body will be placed in the church at 12 noon on Thursday.

The family is at the home at 16 U Street, Honea Path, SC, and will receive friends Monday through Wednesday from 3 – 7 p.m.
