Clara Henricksen, a beloved mother, sister, and community leader, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at her home at the age of 82. Clara was born on May 2, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama, to James and Ethel Mae Harris. She lived a life of compassion, dedication, and service to others, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Clara was a proud graduate of Mobile County Training School, where she completed her high school education in 1959. Her academic journey continued at Tuskegee University, where she majored in Psychology. It was during her time at Tuskegee that she also earned her nursing degree, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in healthcare.
After completing her studies, Clara moved to New York to pursue a career in psychiatric nursing. Her skills, committment, and caring nature quickly gained her recognition in the field. In time, Clara moved to Anderson, South Carolina, where she became well-known for her work as a Section 8 Coordinator, ensuring many families had access to affordable housing. She also proudly owned and operated C & C Residential Home, a residential care facility where she provided a safe and nurturing environment for those in need.
Clara's legacy of care and service to others extended beyond her professional accomplishments. She was deeply involved in her community, always willing to lend a hand and offer support to those around her. Her compassion, warmth, and dedication will be remembered by countless individuals whose lives she touched.
Clara is survived by her daughter Whitney Elizabeth Henricksen, three granddaughters Margeria Zeashia Martin, Aria Raniya Oliver, and Alanah Maxine Puckett and one great-grandson, Skylen Abdul Evans; one sister, Francis (John) St.Clair of Fayetteville, NC; special niece, LaTrecia (Paul) Graham; special nephew, Oscar (Nicole) Marzette; nieces, nephews - who were all like her kids; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Henricksen; son, March Anthony Pringle; parents James & Ethel Mae Harris, her sisters, Gail Harris Davis, Marva Jean Walls, Stephanie Dianne Marzette, Constance Harris Mitchell and Cassandra Denise Mitchell.
She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Public viewing will be at the D. B. Walker Funeral services Saturday from 2 - 6 pm and the body will be placed in church Sunday at 12 noon.
The family is at the home, 103 Brown Street, Anderson, SC.
