Clarence Edward Mayes Sr.
Anderson, SC - Clarence E. Mayes Sr., 77, of 133 Ann Road, died Monday, March 11, 2019, at his home.
He was born in Seneca, SC to Willie Cecil Mayes Sr. and Dorothy Brown Mayes. Mr. Mayes was a concrete finisher with Oglesby Brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Claudia Mayes, Patricia Haymond, Juanita Blasingame and Olee Goodine..
Mr. Mayes is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Lorean Smith Mayes, of the home; five sons, Robert Smith (Beverly), Hawaii; Ricky Goodine (Angela), FL; Wesley Goodine, Clarence Mayes Jr. (April) and James Mayes (Tasha), all of Seneca, SC; five daughters, Deborah Jones, of the home; Greta Mayes, Seneca, SC; Tammy Wilks, Pendleton, SC; Rosemary Smith (Gregory), Greenville, SC and Courtney Mayes, Seneca, SC; one brother, Willie Cecil "Buddy" Mayes, Seneca, SC; 26 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, nephew, Ralph Howard Goodine, Seneca, SC, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services are 1 pm Tuesday, in the Marvin Mattison Memorial Chapel, D. B. Walker Funeral Services with burial to follow in MJ "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery. The body will be on view at the funeral home Monday from 12 noon until 8 pm and the family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 pm until the hour of service.
