Eleanora L. Freeman, daughter of the late Raymond and Mamie Webb Brown, was born in Anderson, South Carolina, on February 20, 1930, and she passed on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Nathaniel Freeman of Anderson County, South Carolina, and to this union, four daughters were born.
Mrs. Freeman attended Anderson County Training School, worked at Dan's Restaurant in Clemson and Excelsior Finishing Plant in Pendleton. Additionally, she worked as Head Cook and a Dedicated Homemaker.
Mrs. Freeman accepted Christ at an early age and joined Silver Spring Baptist Church. She served in the following capacities: Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member (Mass and Crusaders), Youth Counselors (GA's), Usher, Missionary Ministry (Secretary), Youth Choir Director, Van Driver, Instructor of Silver Spring Baptist Church BTU (Baptist Training Union) and Youth Counselor for the WARRBA (Women's Auxiliary to the Rocky River Baptist Association).
Mrs. Freeman leaves to cherish her memories, daughters: Ethelena Freeman, of New Haven, CT; Shirley A. McClary (Robert, Sr.), of Pendleton, SC; Joyce E. Mattress and Norine Freeman of the home; son-in-law, Ronald Mattress of Pendleton, SC; one sister, Linda McCrea (Johnny) of New Haven, CT; two brothers, Raymond Brown, Jr., of Glen Allen, VA; Sherman Brown of New Haven, CT; one step-brother, Claude L. Jones of Louisville, KY; two sisters-in-law, Frances Fowler (Daryl) of Washington, DC; Gussie Pinson of Central, SC; one brother-in-law, Charles Freeman (Susie) of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Mrs. Freeman was predeceased in death by three sisters, Selena Gambrell (Raymond), Bernice Peterson (William), and Annie Dubose (Issac/Chris); two brothers, Claude Brown, Sr. (Genelle), and Charlie Brown; nine brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.
The funeral service is 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Silver Spring Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing is on Wednesday from 2 - 6 pm at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church on Thursday at 12 noon.
The family is at the home, 345 Keese Street, Pendleton, SC.
