Mrs. Ella Bell Pickens, widow of Nathaniel Pickens, 90, of 145 Melrose Lane, Anderson, SC, passed away at her home on October 7, 2026. Born in Abbeville, SC, she was the daughter of Bill Cunningham and Mary Alexander Cunningham.
Mrs. Pickens was preceded in death by her husband, son, Paul Pickens, parents, brothers, James Cunningham and Willie Melvin Cunningham, and sisters, Maggie Jones and Rose Cunningham Foster Gibbs.
Mrs. Pickens was a member of Mt. Clement CME Church, Abbeville, SC.
Mrs. Pickens leaves behind to cherish fond memories six sons, Nathaniel Pickens, Jr., of Saugus, CA, David Pickens, of Brunswick, GA, Michael Pickens, of Powdersville, SC, Timothy Pickens, of Panama City, FL, John (Stephanie) Pickens, of Westerfield, CT, and Daryl (Hope) Pickens, of Charleston. SC; six daughters, Mary (Louis) Bennett, of San Antonio, TX, Gwendolyn Williford, of Anderson, SC, Eva Pickens, of Anderson, SC, Teresa Pickens, of Anderson, SC, Katharine (Barry) Blakely, of Laurens, SC, and Patricia Pickens, of Anderson, SC; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Pickens, of Anderson, SC; eighteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Graveside service, 12 noon, Monday, October 12, 2026, at Westview Cemetery, Anderson, SC.
The family is at the home at 145 Melrose Lane, Anderson, SC.
