Obituary

Mr. Joe Williams Jr., humble gentleman and cherished family man, transitioned from labor to reward on September 7, 2024, peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones who will forever treasure his presence. A meaningful life spanning of 89 years, displaying the epitome of meekness as a warm and supportive soul and unwavering hardworker.

A TIME TO LIVE: Mr. Williams was born in Anderson, South Carolina and is the beloved son of the late Joe Richard Sr. and Hattie Reed Williams. His education was obtained in the Reed Street School System.

A TIME TO WORSHIP: Joe accepted Christ at an early age, he joined and was baptized at Evergreen CME Church, Starr, South Carolina. As life progressed, he further committed at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Anderson, South Carolina in which he served as a faithful member of the Pleasant Grove Male Chorus. In his last years, he worshipped with his family at Second Chance Church, Anderson, South Carolina.

A TIME TO WORK: Mr. Williams was employed and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass. His devoted work ethic and consistency were evident in his 23-year career, as he specialized in 'Textile'. He was also a dedicated member Iva Lodge 408, until his health declined.

A TIME TO LOVE: Joe was united in matrimony to Annie Wenda Faye Robinson on July 18, 1976. Their union was blessed with two children, Angel and Trey. Joe's greatest love was for his family and that was reflected in his everyday life. He exemplified a life of laughter, kindness, love and generosity; enjoyed dancing, baseball and watching Family Feud. Joe was affectionately known as Da, Paw Paw, and Joe Cartwright.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, JB, James, Paul, Louvell and Ernest Williams; sisters, Lillian Hamilton, Johnnie Ruth Crosby, Irene Hunter and Ella Lee.

Mr. Joe Williams Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Mrs. Annie Wenda Faye Robinson Williams; one daughter, Wenda (Angel) Johnson (LeQuinn), Anderson, South Carolina; one son, Joe (Trey) Williams III, Savannah, Georgia; seven grandchildren, including Luka (of the home) and Zion; three bonus grandchildren, Ty'Jwon, Ta'Liyah (of the home) and Zuriya; five sisters-in-law, Marvenia, Verna, Debra, Viola and Flora; two brothers-in-law, Stanley and Orlando; three Godchildren, Pastor Scotty (Pam) Willoughby, Lowndesville, South Carolina, Freddine Wright, Columbia, South Carolina and Alton Wideman, Charleston, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other caring relatives who will miss him dearly.
