Mr. Rufus Pickens Jr., 62, of 111 Tropical Way, Anderson, SC, passed away on the night of Friday, September 12, 2025. Born in Starr, SC, he was the son of Rufus Pickens Sr. and Lenora Scott Pickens.

Rufus Jr. was a graduate of Crescent High School, Class of 1981. He worked as a textile worker at Mayfair for many years and enjoyed cooking on the grill and frying fish for family gatherings at "The Little House" in Starr, SC. He was the devoted husband of Sharon Lynn Pickens.  The love he had for his grandchildren, nieces & nephews was truly unmeasurable. He was always buying gifts and periodically gave them a "little" cash.

Rufus Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, L.C. Scott, R.G. Pickens and Benager Pickens; three sisters, Rose Grove, Patricia Skelton and Willie Mae Holland.

He leaves behind to cherish fond memories his wife, Sharon Pickens; son James Chamblee, of Gallatin, TN; two daughters LaToya (Randolph) Ligon & Nitiya Chamblee, both of Anderson, SC; two sisters Nora Martin, of Anderson, SC & Josephine (William) Sadler, of Starr, SC; eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the Marvin Mattison Memorial Chapel of D. B. Walker Funeral Services. Public viewing is on Friday from 2-6 pm.
