Snipes Jaroy
Martin
Oct 11, 1949 — Sep 21, 2026
Anderson
Snipes Jaroy Martin was born on October 11, 1949, to the late Bennie and Ollie Lee Martin Sr. He was the fourth and last son of this union of six children. He was affectionately known to many as “Jaroy”. Jaroy carried the official family name “Snipes” and used it only on legal documents.
Jaroy was a playful brother. He teased his little sisters, Gail and Lola, unmercifully. And he agitated his older brothers, Fred, Curtis and Ollie, relentlessly. Yes, he was stubborn too. But no matter the situation, Jaroy had fun.
Jaroy join Rock Hill Baptist Church at an early age and served in many of the youth activities. He is a graduate of Westside High School. He worked in several of the local establishments and later retired from Glenn Raven. Jaroy was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. The love of his life was his daughter Tykeshia. His life changed when she entered his world. He loved spoiling her and attending to her needs as well as her wants. His love for Tykeshia was only matched by the birth of her son, Isaiah. Together, they became his two heartbeats–his life. They gave his life meaning and purpose.
Jaroy departed this life on September 21, 2026. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving daughter, Tykeshia Martin; grandson, Isaiah Je'Roy Wood; brother, William Curtis "Billy" Martin (Marva) of Matthews, North Carolina; two sisters, Gail Martin-Mathews (Mark) of Riverside, California, and Lola Martin-Day (Willie) of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Gladys Marie Martin of Anderson, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Lee Martin Sr. and Bennie Martin; and his brothers, Frederick Martin and Ollie Leon Martin Jr.
His love, presence, and the memories shared with him will forever be treasured by hisfamily and all who knew him.
