Calvin Truman Johnson

Mr. Calvin Truman Johnson, 77, of 122 MLK Road, Starr, SC, departed his life on Friday, November 12, 2021. He was born on March 18, 1944, to the late James Wesley and Amanda Lou Moore Johnson of Iva, SC.

Truman joined Pine Grove Baptist Church at an early age.  He was the janitor for years, a member of the Male Chorus, a member of the Usher Board and also served as a Trustee.

Calvin was the father of four children, son, Fitzgerald Johnson, preceded him in death.  He is survived by son, Terry Johnson of Starr, SC; two daughters, Latosha Johnson of Greer, SC and Monique Johnson of Starr, SC; two grandchildren, Dominique and Karmen Johnson, both of Spartanburg, SC; a very special friend, Elinda A. Downs of Pelzer, SC; one sister, Linda Wright, of Iva, SC; two brothers, James Dwayne (Nellie) Johnson of Anderson, SC and Donald (Patricia) Johnson, of Iva, SC; sister-in-law, Sarah Johnson; brother-in-law, George Ellis; he is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his son, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Wesley and Amanda Johnson, two brothers, Theophelis (Fannie) Johnson, Willie Rogers Johnson; sister, Patricia Johnson Ellis and brother-in-law, William Wright.

Funeral services are 1 pm Wednesday in the Marvin Mattison Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Public viewing will be Tuesday from 3 -7 pm and Wednesday until the hour of service.

Family members are at their respective homes.
