Clara (Vance) Wheaton

Clara Vance Wheaton, 90, widow of Charlie Wheaton, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in her home at 127 Springs Road, Anderson, SC 29625.

Born in Sandy Springs, SC, she was the daughter of Bailous Vance, Sr., and Lilia McGee Vance.

Clara is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five siblings: Sarah Bernhard, Laura, Dorella, Thomas Edward, and Rayford Vance.

Clara leaves behind to cherish fond memories two sons, Dr. Reverend Charlie Russell (Miriam Assissi) Wheaton, of Belgium, and Kimmie Leslie Vance Wheaton, of Pendleton, SC; two daughters, Janice (Tommy) Lee and Sherry Lynn Wheaton, both of Anderson, SC; two brothers, Bailous Vance, Jr., of Pendleton, SC, and McArthur “Mac” (Lona) Vance, of Manhattan, NY; three sisters, Lelia Vance, of Pendleton, SC, Bailous Ann Vance and Barbara Vance, both of Athens, GA; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one step-grandchild, one step-great- grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is Saturday, February 7, 2026, at East Clemson Christian Fellowship, 520 Issaqueena Trail, Clemson, SC, with burial to follow at New Holly Light Cemetery. Mrs. Wheaton will be on view Friday, February 6th, from 2 - 6 p.m., and the body will be placed in the church Saturday at 12 noon.
