Dorethea (Childs) Thompson

Dorethea Childs Thompson, 74, widow of Roosevelt Thompson, Jr., passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at Hospice Haven of Richmond County in Rockingham, NC.

Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of William Childs Sr. and Sarah Thompson Childs.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William Childs Jr. and David Sanford Childs.

She leaves behind to cherish fond memories, three daughters, Rosalyn Thompson of Fayetteville, NC; Cathey Starke (Marius) of Thomasville, NC, and Mary Ann Mackey Glass, of Iva, SC; stepson, Willie "Onion" Cowans, Anderson, SC; sister, Delores Childs (Bennie Craft), of Hartwell, GA;  22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 2 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Iva, SC. Public Viewing will be on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 2-6 pm at D.B. Walker Funeral Services.
