Columbia, SC - Lucille Thompson, 72,  passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital, Columbia, SC.

Born in Anderson, SC she was the daughter of Roosevelt Thompson Sr. and Eather Walker Thompson. 

Lucille was a graduate of Tri-County Technical College where she received her Associate in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor Degree in Education from Anderson College.  She taught for many years the kindergarten class at Iva Elementary school, and she continued her teaching at SHARE Head Start in Anderson, SC.

Lucille is a former member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Iva, SC and after moving to Columbia, SC, she joined Zion Canaan Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Leila Mae (Robert) Chester, brother, Roosevelt Thompson, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Destine Sanders Thompson.

Lucille leaves to cherish fond memories, one daughter, Gwendolyn A. (Dell) Wright, Columbia, SC; one son, Brandon Christopher Thompson, Belton, SC; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Lorine (M.C.) Chester, Anderson, SC; sister-in-law, Dorethea Thompson, Archdale, NC; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Graveside services are 11 am Saturday at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with the Pastor Bobby Smith Sr. officiating.  The body will be on view Friday from 3 – 7 pm at D. B. Walker Funeral Services.

The family is at the home of her son, Brandon Christopher Thompson, 105 Major Meadows Road, Belton, SC.
