Lillian Lorine Thompson Chester, 81, of 1102 East River Street, Anderson, SC, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at her home with her family by her bedside. Born in Starr, SC, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Thompson and Eather Walker Thompson.
Lillian joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until her health declined. She was a graduate of New Deal School and was retired from Willow Creek Nursing Home.
Lillian was united in holy matrimony to MC Chester on October 23, 1960 and to this union five children were born.
Lillian leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband, MC Chester, of the home; one son, Melvin Curtis Chester (Kimberly), Belton, SC; four daughters, Loretta Reed (Timothy), Charlotte, NC; Mary Louise Fant (Gregory), Sue Helen Geer (William), and Frances Ellen Chester, all of Anderson, SC; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Doretha Thompson, Archdale, NC; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Roosevelt Junior Thompson and two sisters, Leila Mae Chester (Robert) and Ellen Lucille Thompson.
Funeral services are 1 pm Tuesday on the grounds of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be held at the funeral home Monday, from 3-7 pm and Tuesday from 9 – 11 am
