Marvin Dotson

Due West, SC – Marvin L. Dotson, 72, of 188 Mt. Lebanon Road, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born In Abbeville County, SC, he was the son of Olin and Azalee Marshall Dotson. He was a 1967 graduate of J. S. Wright High School in Abbeville, SC, attended Piedmont Technical College and majored in Electronics. He was a veteran of the US Marines, and was employed with VyTech over twenty years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Baptist Church.

Marvin enjoyed fishing, playing card games with his friends and family and attending athletic events to support his children and grandchildren. 

Marvin was preceded in death by his father, Olin Dotson; mother, Azalee Dotson Gray; son, Kevin Latimer; two daughters, Tangela Lawson and Yolandra S. Dotson .

Marvin leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Ella Jean Cunningham Dotson, of the home; two sons, Ant’jua Leon Dotson, Due West, SC and Jason F. Dotson, Greensboro, NC; two daughters, Marlo Crawford (Marvin), Warner Robins, GA and Angela Donald (Gary), Blythewood, SC; two grandchildren  raised in the home, Robert Justin Miller of the home and Ciera Miller, Lexington, SC  and thirteen other grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Lee Tsevi, Anderson, SC; Catherine Moses, Columbia, SC; Bernice Dotson, Kingstree, SC;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Funeral services are 12 noon Friday on the grounds of St. Mary’s Baptist Church, Due West, SC; burial will be 1 pm Monday, October 4,  at MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.  Public viewing will be Thursday from 4 -8 pm at the funeral home and Friday at the church from 11:30 am until the hour of service.
