Melvin Thompson

Melvin Thompson, 73, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.  Born in Starr, SC, he was the son of the late Oscar Thompson, Jr. and Sallie Mae Heard Thompson.

Melvin was a graduate of New Deal High School, attended Tri-County Technical College and retired from Baldor Manufacturing.  He was also a US Army Veteran.

Melvin leaves to cherish loving memories, his wife, Fannie Dawson Thompson; daughter, Ayana Aikens (Deidrick); two brothers, Carl Wilton Thompson (Annie Ruth) and Willie Thompson (Barbara), all of Anderson, SC; one sister, Annie Jean Thompson Scotland, of Charlotte, NC; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services are 11 am Thursday in the Marvin R. Mattison Memorial Chapel, D. B. Walker Funeral Services and burial will follow at MJ "Dolly" Cooper Veteran Cemetery.  Public viewing will be Wednesday from 5 -7 pm.
