Napoleon Lee Johnson, 83, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Pageland, SC, he was the son of the late Wilbert M. Johnson and Maggie Jones Johnson.
He graduated High School in his hometown then attended Denmark Barber College in Denmark, SC. After graduation he moved to Anderson, SC in 1959, where he did his apprenticeship working at Friendly Barber Shop with R.A. McGee. While working under Mr. McGee, he received his Master Barber License. Napoleon was a self-employed barber for over 60 years, was a deacon and choir member at Charity Springs Church and a former Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Choir Member at Mt Carmel CME Church.
Napoleon was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vivian Johnson.
He leaves behind to cherish fond memories, two sons, Lee Anthony Johnson, of Atlanta, GA, and Napoleon O. Johnson (Angela), of Greenville, SC; daughter, Ilka Charlene Putman, of Anderson, SC; three brothers, Henry Adam Johnson, of Pageland, SC, Wilbert M. Johnson Jr., of Anglus, SC, and Preston Johnson, of Pageland, SC, three sisters, Betty Jo Cook, of Hollis, Queens, NY, Frances J. Snead, of Hartwell, GA, and Dorothy Stewart, Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at D. B. Walker Funeral Services from 3-7 pm on Friday, March 25, 2022, and the funeral service is 2 pm Saturday, March 26, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Anderson. interment will follow after the service at New Silverbrook Cemetery.
