Sam Otis Robinson
Anderson, SC – Mr. Sam O. Robinson went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, July 11, 2020, at his home with his wife Verna W. Lee Robinson and his family at his bedside.
Born in Iva, SC, he was the son of R. E. Robinson and Jetheree Walker Robinson. He was a graduate of New Deal High School and his first job was with Kimbrell Furniture Store as a delivery person. After 30 years and retiring from the BASF Corporation he worked with the City of Anderson. Mr. Robinson began his Christian foundation with Wilson Creek First Baptist Church of Iva and at an early age he joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as an usher, was a former Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School Director. He organized the first Male Chorus of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. For many years until the present time, he served as a Deacon. . He also loved working in his yard.
Sam was a member of Anderson Lodge #207 (Past Master), CC Mack Chapter #56 (Past High Priest), Azzam Temple #84 (Past Potentate) and Past Patron EOS.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, son, Clarence Henry Chester; sister, Alberlena McGruder, two brothers, Alvin and Harold Ray Robinson.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Evangelist Verna Lee Robinson, six daughters, Linda Johnson (Kerwin), Janice Blankenship (Jay), Pastor Sharon (Melvin) Valentine, Shiywana “Wana” Lee, all of Anderson, SC; Louisa Lee, Greenville, SC and Dr. Leilani “LeeLee” Lee, Powdersville, SC; two sons, Stanley Otis Martin, Greenville, SC and Moses V. Lee, Anderson, SC; two brothers, Thomas Robinson, Anderson, SC and Stanley (Deborah) Robinson, Starr, SC; two sisters, Marvenia Liddell, Iva, SC and Annie Faye (Joe) Williams, Anderson, SC; 17 grandchildren with one grandchild being raised in the home, Nolan Burns; one great-grandchild; special brother, Randolph (Doris) Scotland; one brother-in-law, Orlando McGruder, Columbia, MD; two sisters-in-law, Juanita and Viola Robinson, both of Iva, SC, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be 11 am Thursday, July 16th, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery and viewing will be Wednesday, July 15th at D.B. Walker Funeral Services from 4-8 pm. Due to limited seating you may bring your lawn chairs to the graveside service, but we ask that you practice social distancing at all times.
The family is at the home, 1800 Bolt Drive, Anderson, SC.
