Walter Smith

Walter Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on August 6, 2019. Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late John and Daisy Flaningan Smith. Walter was raised in the home of Emma (Suk) Bell, and his early education was received at Beaty Good Hope School in Starr, SC. Walter moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1978 where he worked for the MTI power company.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, children, David Kendrick and Dorothy Ann Smith. and brother Willie B. Smith.

He leaves behind to cherish fond memories, his wife, Margiree Mattress, Charlotte, NC;  five sons, Willie Hall, Robert Lee Hall, Bobby Lee Johnson, Micheal Jerome Morrison, all of Anderson, SC;  and Sean Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; and four daughters, Gail Pickens and Priscilla Johnson both of Anderson, SC; Daisy and Debbie Smith both of Charlotte, NC; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services are 4 pm Saturday, Marvin Mattison Memorial Chapel, DB Walker Funeral Services.
